We believe in the rights of women and children to live free of violence and for over 42 years have provided specialist support and services to women and children impacted by family violence.• We provide highly secure accommodation and risk planning which prioritises our clients safety • We offer a range of programs and services including risk assessment, case management, outreach support, children's programs, advocacy and client education• We work with single women, women with children, older women, LGBTI+, women from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. • We have a specialist understanding of the complexities of family violence which helps our clients make informed choices to improve their long term outcomes • We challenge service providers, government and the community to adopt responses that do not tolerate violence to women and children• Last year we supported 311 women and 171 children.Kara House is a non-for-profit organisation primarily funded by the Department of Health and Human Services. We look towards the community for further fundraising to provide the best possible environment and material aid while the women and children are in our care. Funding assists with providing material aid to clients, support additional educational programs, well-being activities and ongoing improvements to the refuge.
