The Karen Carns Foundation mission is two-fold:1. Primary - A child will never be removed from his or her environment of a private elementary or high school education due to a life-changing event that affects the family's financial situation.Since its inception in 1999, the Karen Carns Foundation has provided almost $2 Million dollars in tuition assistance to elementary and secondary school students in the Greater Cincinnati area.2. Secondary - To embrace the true meaning of the holiday season, by providing new winter coats to those less fortunate. Each fall, KCF conducts its Coats For Kids program. This program is unique in that it personalizes the donation experience. Area teachers and advocates for children must send a letter to KCF describing why they have nominated each child to receive a new coat. Then they hand-pick a new coat for each nominated student and present it to him/her personally. In 2017, over 1300 coats were provided to children in Greater Cincinnati. For many of them, this was one of the first new garments they have ever had.New winter coats have been provided to area children in need each year since 1991, with over 12,000 coats given out to date.Visit www.karencarnsfoundation.org to learn more about Karen Carns, the history of the foundation, our board of directors, and more.
