Arts & Crafts - Kathmandu, Central Region, Nepal
Kathmandu Contemporary Arts Centre (KCAC) was established in 2007 as a British Charity and in 2010 opened Nepal's first international contemporary arts centre. In 2012 we moved to the Patan Museum, one of the finest museums in Asia and a UNESCO world heritage site. KCAC holds world-class exhibitions, workshops & symposia, has 5,000+ art books in the library (mainly donated by Tate Britain) and an active international artists exchange programme. KCAC's mission is to be a catalyst to contemporary artists in Nepal and promote their work abroad. Three aims underpin our vision and mission: 1. to support Nepali artists fulfill their creative potential by offering help to emerging artists with studios and bursaries. 2. to increase participation in the arts through exhibitions, workshops, symposia and cross-cultural dialogues. 3. to place the arts, culture and creativity at the heart of learning. (Art is not on the school curriculum in Nepal.)
