KatWalk Productions is a national legal services company producing sentencing videos to assist defense attorneys in obtaining reduced sentences in federal and state criminal courts. Criminal defense sentencing videos are a relatively new tool for defense attorneys. The 10-20 minute videos offer an in-depth view of a defendant's life; a chance for the judge to see who the defendant is as a human being, not just a case number. The Wall Street Journal cited us as one of two companies leading the way in this new ground.The sentencing video becomes part of the defense's pre-sentencing memorandum. Our goal is a downward departure for the defendant, a goal we have achieved in 19 of 20 cases where we have worked with the defense. We want to know everything about a defendant. We ask a lot of questions before we even turn the camera on, using interview techniques developed over years of work as a network journalist covering crime and punishment in many major cities. Our experience in the legal system gives us an insider's perspective of what the judge is required to take into consideration in sentencing. A degree in psychology and work as a family court mediator and guardian ad litem, brings the ability to understand and present the human dynamics of the defendant's situation. Working with an exclusive team of videographers who bring 90+ years of experience, we cast light on a defendant's whole story including the family dynamics, impact on the community, and their feelings about the crime, their mistakes and their future. We ensure they can tell their story to the judge.
