Celebrating the Strength of Family Business!Celebrating our 12th year, Kawartha Family Business Group (KFBG) is a growing community of Family Businesses and Professional Advisors who work together to better understand how family businesses grow and connect. KFBG educates, informs and encourages members in areas of unique interest for family businesses, through a program of educational seminars and networking opportunities. Members include family businesses from all types and sizes, from large industries to independent retailers, with single or multiple generations of owners. Members and our sponsors foster awareness and an in-depth understanding of what it takes to develop and protect a family business. Each programming calendar, KFBG hosts five key events on Mondays from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Best Western Plus Otonabee Inn, Peterborough. Each event features a Family Business Spotlight, where members hear about a featured business's journey and the challenges they've faced, in addition to hearing from a featured speaker. This season's upcoming speakers include: "From Acquisitions to Exit Strategies" by BDO and other experts on January 27, 2020; and "Customers' Customers Philosophy" by Rick Baker on March 23, 2020.The season will culminate on May 11, 2020, with "What Advice Would You Give Your Younger Self?" where a panel of family business founders will share their decades of experience with KFBG members and sponsors. Family business founders will share their insights and wisdom during this moderated panel. One of the confirmed panelists is Gary Stewart, well known in the Peterborough area as the founder of Stewart Travel, now Carlson-Wagonlit Travel, and former MPP.Successfully navigate your family business journey by attending a KFBG event as our guest.
