For over 46 years, Korean Community Services, Inc. (KCS) has been a prominent Southern Californian AAPINon-Profit, navigated by highly visible, activist AAPI leadership. Established in 1975 as an Episcopal outreach ministry for new immigrants in Los Angeles and incorporated in 1977 as a 501 (c) 3 Non-Profit under the name of California Korean Community Services, KCS' original mission was as a community support organization lending much needed aid to the ever-increasing Asian immigrant diaspora of Southern California. By 1991, turning towards a more specific focus on Orange County, California, KCS broadened its scope and expanded its mission to embrace and meet the growing needs of AAPI groups as well as other underserved and vulnerable groups, regardless of ethnic identity, such as low-income residents of north and central Orange County, the unhoused, and LGBTQ.
