Keith Watts is a singer, songwriter, bandleader, and guitarist from San Diego, CA. His voice has been described as deep and soulful, but also surprisingly soft, tender, and introspective. The baritone warmly invites the listener into the melancholy, and sometimes dark, wanderings of his mind. His lyrics and style allude to his own upbringing and familiarity with contemporary church music, and yet he offers his own conflicted ramblings, which vacillate between the realms of deep faith and sincere doubt, overwhelming joy and dark depression, sacrificial love and cold lust, brokenness and redemption. Though Keith began as a pop-style singer, he graduated from UC Berkeley in 2014 with a B.A. in Music as a classically trained bass-baritone. He has performed in various venues (i.e. Carnegie Hall) as well as a variety of bands & choirs, such as the UC Berkeley Gospel Chorus, University Chamber Chorus, and University Chorus. Additionally, Keith has sung solos for USA Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg; Tony Award nominee, Manoel Felciano; and SF Bay Area locals, such as UC Berkeley Chancellor Nicholas B. Dirks. Keith currently lives in Berkeley, CA, directing bands; composing for churches and kids' choirs; and performing for weddings, retreats, and VIP ceremonies.
