Primary/secondary Education - Alpharetta, Georgia, United States
Kendore Cares believes that every child should have access to effective reading instruction. We bring proven solutions to our most vulnerable students at Title I schools through teacher training and support for student interventions, and individual scholarships for one-on-one tutoring. Through this strategy, we ensure that students gain the number one educational asset to life success: the ability to read. The need to address reading gaps is very real: • 66% of Georgia's 4th graders cannot read at a proficient level as measured by the National Assessment of Educational Progress. • Children who cannot read proficiently by 3rd grade are four times more likely to drop out of school. • 47% of fourth graders from low-income families read below basic grade level. • 15-20% of all school-aged children have reading problems, many of which go undiagnosed. • 2/3 of students who cannot read proficiently by the end of 4th grade will end up in jail or on welfare. At the core of Kendore Care's mission is the belief that every student benefits from a systematic, multisensory approach to learning. And we believe that this approach belongs in the classroom. By focusing on teacher training and providing strategic interventions to students, we bring positive reading results to hundreds of students who are traditionally at the highest risk for reading failure. Our methods are also designed to work for students with language-based learning differences to ensure that all students reach their potential reading capacity.
