At Kendril, we're excited about the future. When Apple released the iPhone in 2006, some people called that The Future and perhaps it was (and still is) a first glimpse into how Internet connected devices can change our lives. Everyone's guessing what the next "big thing" will be. We don't know what that will be. In fact, it might not be one big thing, but a whole number of connected things that are The Future. The Future is wide open, and could bring us new products and services we've never imagined. Sensors, networks, and data automation are bringing us smart systems in all parts of our lives… add up smart homes, smart factories, smart hospitals, smart parking, smart you-name-is, and we have smarter cities and communities. The smart grid could be the key to enabling all of this. Utilities have extensive infrastructure throughout the communities they serve. Smart grid communications and sensors cover all of utilities' service area. With the right planning, smart grid networks could be the backbone for future smart products, services, and systems.Planning for, and enabling greater connectedness will be key. There are a lot of questions that need to be answered: What to connect? How to connect? How to do it safely? How to manage privacy? Where do we start? Have we asked all the right questions?Kendril helps utilities plan connectedness in two ways. First we help determine the most secure way to manage utility enterprise systems and interconnect customer systems. Second we help them learn more with the data their smart grid systems collect and manage. Smart grid networks collect a lot of data… There's so much data collected, it is big data, that can be used to make decisions. Kendril helps electric utilities structure the data that they're collecting with their smart grid networks to learn about their customers, assets, and systems. With these insights, we help our clients optimize their organizational planning and strategy to deliver on what their customers and communities want and need for the future.
