Thanet Volunteer Bureau is now part of Kent Coast Volunteering, a registered charity and for over 27 years we have actively promoted, supported and developed volunteering across Thanet. We now successfully manage a variety of projects including:\\Volunteer Brokerage: We currently have over 400 organisations registered with the Bureau and more than 1,000 examples of volunteering opportunities. Our website enables organisations to register opportunities & potential volunteers to register, search & find volunteering opportunities.\\DBS Checking Service: The Disclosure & Barring Service helps employers and volunteer recruiters make safer recruitment decisions and prevent unsuitable people from working with vulnerable groups, including children.\\Volunteer Driver Transport Scheme: Supported by a team of volunteer drivers and administrators. Over 800 members, co-ordinate over 19,000 journeys across Kent annually, taking people, without access to transport, to medical appointments.\\Thanet Community Support Partnership: Developed and supported the linking together of organisations across Thanet, with 5 years of lottery funding. The project provides one point of contact for the variety of services established to help people remain independent in their own homes and reduce isolation. \\Networking: This project co-ordinates monthly networking sessions helping organisations and businesses across Thanet better understand services and resources that are available for older people as well as provide an opportunity to share ideas about good practice and partnership opportunities.\\Social Inclusion: Supported by volunteers, it co-ordinates a very well attended weekly social and activities club for older people called ‘Your Time' in Ramsgate.\\Thanet Support Directory: This Big Lottery funded project facilitated the development of what has proven to be an extremely popular online directory providing a guide to local services, listing other support that may be available for older people – www.thanetsupport.co.uk
