Public Safety - Carmel, NY, US
We are located 65 miles North of NYC in Kent Cliffs Putnam County New York. Our zip code is shared with Carmel NY. The landscape of our community is primarily residential and includes the NYS White Pond Multiple Use Area (a 276 acre State park) and the Clarence Fahnestock Memorial State Park (a 14,086 acre State park) and many smaller State and town parks with hiking trails, campsites, lakes and playgrounds. Our community is also part of the NYC Croton Reservoir and Watershed system and includes the Chuang Yen Monastery which houses the largest Buddha statue in Europe, North and South America. This brings visitors to our community from around the globe. Our district also includes a 3.4 mile portion of the Taconic State Parkway from Route 301 (mile marker 31.4) to the Dutchess County East Fishkill line (mile marker 34.0). Because of our district terrain, the Kent Volunteer Fire Department has been renown and respected for our training and ability to fight brush fire's and have been called to other districts to assist on numerous occasions over the years.
