In 2012, KereKere launched the coffee shop KereKere South at the Boyd Community Hub in Southbank. Boyd was the City of Melbourne's first community hub site and included a Library, Maternal and Child Health Nurses, playgroup and creative spaces. KereKere South was initiated to provide a more supportive workplace for KereKere trainees along with an opportunity to play an active role in the development of the emerging Southbank community. We worked closely with the City of Melbourne to animate the hub and together launched a range of community celebrations like the Ham Cup, Tower Trivia, Southbank Farmers Market, Fat Fridays and Community Conversations. Boyd was the test site for the development of the community hub model and since then the City of Melbourne has launched The Dock Library in Docklands and the Kathleen Syme Community Hub in Carlton.
