Kic | MPi (Knowledge and Innovation Centre for Maintenance Process Industry) is a part of the Maintenance Valuepark. The main objective for Kic is to support innovations to improve the maintenance efficiency within the process industry in North West Europe. With the innovative support of the maintenance cycle, Kic's activity is an integrated part of the Circular Economy. The ecosystem for maintenance integration among asset owners, contractors and educational institutes makes this concept unique within the process industry and positions Kic in the centre of expertise of innovation in maintenance in the process industry. The themes on the innovation agenda Kic has identified the headline themes within the maintenance industry. For each of these themes, it investigates potential improvements and seeks innovative solutions. Kic supports the entire process of defining problems, seeking solutions and developing concepts to support innovation projects. A number of large-scale brainstorming sessions were organised for this purpose in 2011. Ninety technical, creative, innovative and, above all, motivated people, from more than 40 companies, took part. They sought concrete solutions and a project-based approach to maintenance issues. A wealth of ideas were generated at the brainstorming sessions which were subsequently analysed to create a basis for projects. These projects will then be taken over and further developed by project teams, who will seek supplementary knowledge and expertise, as well as synergies and cooperation with ongoing (external) initiatives. Educational establishments and other external parties are also involved.
