They recognized a need for quality interventions for children, as well as trainings with a "hands-on" component for therapists. This is a complex problem because unskilled therapists can worsen children's problems.Children need to be a priority; they are our future. Kids First focuses on early intervention because the experiences in the first years of life are the basis for all future development. These experiences set the stage for learning self-control, self-regulation, future relationships and success later in life. Kids First only hires competent mental health professionals and continues the training process. We offer affordable workshops and trainings to allow therapists to grow in order to serve at-risk children. By training mental health professionals impact more children. Kids First provides Association for Play Therapy Credits so therapists can work to become registered play therapists and provide effective therapeutic interventions.
