The School of Mass Communication became vibrant by intake of students in its Under Graduate programme in 2016. In 2017 the department has shifted to its state-of-art new building in Campus-18. Set just around the gorgeous Rose Garden and set amidst the scenic beauty, the SMC has excellent infrastructure provided by KIIT. Its sister concerns such as Kalinga TV and kalingatv.com are assets for the students to learn and become industry ready. The continuing programmes are Bachelor of Communication and Journalism (BCJ), Masters of Communication and Journalism (MCJ) and PhD in Communication and Journalism. BCJ and MCJ are considered as Dual Degree, which follows a liberal structure of 3+2 (Graduation+Masters), meaning there is a facility for an exit after graduation. Masters programme with specializations will commence in 2019. The members of the Board of Studies have approved the syllabus stating that this course is a holistic one which will create a solid foundation for the students at graduation level and expertise at masters level.
