In the business of being a successful hotelier, a necessity is that one must love facing a challenge and rising to the occasion. It is about widening your horizons and embracing change, while maintaining your unique vision. But, at the end of the day, what it comes down to is really a passionate calling to the hospitality industry, and a full commitment to living the life with zeal and enthusiasm. Living on a tropical island and in remote locations has provided the stage for unique difficulties to puzzle out in this field, including producing electricity, maintaining water supplies, growing fruits and vegetables using hydroponics, and establishing communications in isolated places. The successful completion of these tasks has led to not only a broader understanding of running a hotel from top to bottom, but a keen appreciation for the simpler things and the smallest details. We believe in a personal, "hands on" approach to management and running a company. For example, we believe in the passing on of knowledge and experience amongst employees in their departments so that no one individual would be unprepared for anything. Or, also, that employees should reflect their departments and business with natural ease, confidence, and a reassuring smile. It is only with the passing on of knowledge that employees stand to gain confidence and pride in their work, which reflects on their business and in turn, the hotel. The employees are facilitating the experience for the guests in a hotel, and achieving the ultimate goal, to cultivate a "beautiful moment that lasts for eternity" for these guests. After all, a hotel can have beautiful hardware, but it is only through the software that the machine works effortlessly and beautifully- something that the personality of each individual employee brings to the team, the ultimate machine.
