The Kimmel Harding Nelson Center for the Arts (KHN) is an artist residency program located in historic Nebraska City, Nebraska. The program, established in 2001, supports established and emerging writers, visual artists and composers by providing working and living environments that allow uninterrupted time for work, reflection and creative growth. The KHN Center also presents and support arts-related programming that expands public awareness and appreciation of the arts through gallery exhibitions and education outreach.The residence program hosts approximately 60 working artists annually based on a juried application process. Awards are given to visual artists, writers, composers, and interdisciplinary artists from across the country and around the world. The KHN Center accommodates up to five artists at a time for stays that vary from two to eight weeks. Application deadlines are March 1 and September 1 annually.Six structured shows are mounted each year in the KHN Center's gallery presenting the opportunity for area artists to display their work, affording visitors an opportunity to interact with regional talent. Regular open studio events with residents and receptions for exhibiting artists are held to which the community is invited. The Center also hosts several classes and hands-on workshops throughout the year in the classroom space and resident artists regularly present offsite lectures and workshops for organizations and schools.
