Fund-raising - Sisters, Oregon, United States
Founded in memory of Kimberly Veenhuis, who lost her life to glioblastoma in August 2021 at the age of 53, Kim's Hope will demonstrate the love of Christ by raising and distributing funds directly to families facing the same diagnosis of glioblastoma. Our mission is to help ensure the best possible care, in the best environment of care for the patient and caregiver. In their time of need, Kim's Hope will help alleviate some of financial stress points so the patient and caregiver can focus their attention on treatment, care, and recovery. Kim's Hope will provide:1. Financial aid to families to allow for in-home care by the ones who love the patient most - their own family, in the place they are most comfortable - their own home. 2. Financial aid to help with travel costs for those that, because of geographic limitations and/or quality care being unavailable in their home market, are required to travel to receive the quality care that they desire and deserve from a center of excellence or educational institution.3. Financial aid to assist with the high costs of prescription medication or treatment that are not covered by the patient's own insurance.4. Beginning in the spring of 2023, Kim's Hope will award an educational grant to one child of a glioblastoma patient to continue their education at an accredited institution of higher learning.5. Kim's Hope will support research that is aimed at developing more advanced treatments, and potential cures for brain tumors, and specifically glioblastoma.
