Aaron Simpson is a personal trainer and running coach experienced in creating customized exercise and nutrition plans for beginners and serious athletes alike.A Certified Personal Trainer (National Academy of Sports Medicine and National Council on Sports and Fitness) and USA Track & Field certified Level 1 coach, Aaron focuses on functional movement with a balanced approach to muscle work. He's helped hundreds of clients avoid injury and challenge their own expectations through establishing smart goals, giving positive guidance and developing metrics to track progress. Above all, Aaron loves helping people accomplish things they once thought too bold—and have fun doing it.After earning a degree in economics from Oregon State University, Aaron went into banking, but quickly discovered his true passion thrived outside financial health: While at Bank of the Cascades in Bend, Ore., he developed the growing institution's first wellness program, and quickly recognized his zeal for helping others live a healthier, more active life. He moved to Portland with his wife, Ashley, and dog, Auzlo, and soon became a sought-after trainer at 24 Hour Fitness in Portland's Pearl District. There, he earned both his Certified Personal Trainer and Performance Enhancement Specialist certifications from the NASM and NCSF, as well as his Fitness Nutrition Specialist certification. His positive, energetic and motivating style led him to Olympian Jeff Galloway's run/walk/run program, which turned to Aaron to establish running groups in Portland, Lake Oswego, Beaverton, Seattle, and Spokane. As Galloway's Regional Program Director, he led large groups of both beginner and experienced runners reach a range of goals: From taking on their first race (from 5Ks to marathons) to setting personal records (however audacious) to becoming stronger, faster (and healthier) runners.Aaron understands his clients' determination to return to health following injury. Despite sporting an 8-inch metal rod and 9 screws in his leg from a freak running injury in high school, Aaron is an accomplished competitive runner. He qualified for the 2010 Boston Marathon and ran the Helsinki Marathon in Finland. He also took on the infamous Where's Waldo 100K—a 62-mile endurance test that covers more than 10,000 feet of elevation gain and descent—and recently ran around Oregon's Mt. Hood self-supported.But as seriously as he takes his running, Aaron never takes himself too seriously. His favorite recent running accomplishment was a first-place finish in the Original Bare Buns 5K—a race on a nudist colony he ran sans clothing!With more than ten years and 10,000 sessions of experience, Aaron has honed his approach to crafting exercise and nutrition plans with one goal in mind—to set people up for success.
