Furniture - Stewartsville, New Jersey, United States
My academic background is in photogrpahy, film, creative writing, and theatrical production. Our original store, Fieldstone Antiques began in 1986 in Stewartsville NJ. Our furniture business and conservation services began in the late 90s as Kitsch-n-Kaboodle. We have combined experience of over 30 years, and our items have appeared in pricing guides, local & regional periodicals, blogs, and home decorator magazines. Over the past 10 years, I have developed my own fine finishing techniques in restoring and painting furniture in the cottage 'shabby-chic' styles completely avoiding the latex materials and poor quality surfaces that permeate that market, in favor of a high-grade and extremely fine oil-based surface, combined with a more comprehensive and authentic approach to the carpentry repairs and overall design. I also specialize in non-shabby-chic distressed pieces such as art deco, mid-century moderne, and mission styles, which I like to call 'Urban-Chic'. My goal is to raise the quality level of painted furniture on a par with the finest woodtone furniture, and to explore contemporary applications of the exuberant attitudes found in the styles of 100 years ago. What began as a barn in New Jersey has become cottage decorating on a new level....
