KLBRI is a grassroots organization and fiscal project of Los Angeles Indigenous People's Alliance (LAIPA). KLBRI was founded by Dr. Patty Ramirez in response to the political context of unaccompanied minors, family separation, migrant caravans, racial trauma, police brutality, and mass incarceration. These along with a global health pandemic functioned as exacerbating factors on the impact of race-based stress that has fatigued black, indigenous, people of color social justice leaders threatening the sustainability of social justice organizations and movements.
