Yoshimi Kono is the principal of Kono Designs, a multi-disciplinary design practice involved in architecture, master planing, interior, product and graphic design as well as corporate identity. Among his wide range of completed projects are Showrooms for Artemide, Poltrona Frau, Valli & Valli, Pasona Group, NTT America; Restaurant design for World Trade Center Amsterdam; Retail design for Carolee and Harbor Circus; Exhibit design for New York Fashion Week; Set design for RAI Radio Televisione Italiana; Products for OUN Corporation and Valli & Valli; Tableware for Sasaki Crystal; Corporate identity for Pasona Inc., Laluna resort and 2005 Special Olympics; Publication design for the Japan Soccer Association presentation for FIFA World Cup 2002; Website design for Laluna resort and the Pei Partnership Architects; and Packaging design for Kanebo Cosmetics.Examples of his work have appeared in numerous national and international publications including Abitare, Interni, Domus, Casa Vogue, Hinge, Interiors, Interior Design, ID Magazine and Ottagono.He has won several awards including the 2001 Kitchen & Bath Business Product Innovator Awards for Hardware, the 1994 DDA award from the Japan Display Design Association, the 1994 and 1997 Award of Excellence from the Japan Sign Design Association, the 1995 Award for Best Design from the Japan Typography Association, the 2001, 2005 and 2011 Nikkei New Office Award from the New Office Promotion Association and the 2011 Promotion Award from Japan Facility Management Association. Most recently his Pasona HQ project in Tokyo won the 2013 Architizer A+ awards.
