We started Kontrakkt because we liked the flexibility offered by contract jobs. But to our surprise, when we went looking for those contract jobs, we only found a couple websites that catered exclusively to contractors in technology or creative industries, while the rest of us had to wade through hundreds of full-time jobs to find the contract jobs in our respective fields. Now the economic meltdown and structural movements in business over the last few years have changed the work environment forever. Additionally, the availability of healthcare outside of employers will add to this monumental transition and all the numbers point to the realization that employers will be hiring more and more contractors, freelancers and part-time workers in every industry imaginable. This is great news since so many of us don't want to continue the old practice of sitting in parking-lot traffic for hours each day, commuting to the same old job, year in and year out. We want greater variety and more control over the hours we work, and where we go to do it. We don't want to sit in a boring stuffy office and deal with all the politics. We want to make our own hours, and work from our own homes or our favorite local meeting places like Starbucks, Caribou or Dunkin Doughnuts. Whether you are a Seasoned Executive, a part-time Driver, a Restaurant Worker, Java Coder or Horse Whisperer, Kontrakkt is for you. Maybe you want a short term contract, a longer term gig, or you just want to work three days a week. Whatever your needs, we are going to make the connections for you: Kontrakkt will get you to the contract jobs. As we grow, we'll also provide you with help on a whole range of things that will make your life easier as a contractor.
