A non-profit Participatory Culture arts collective involved in large costume galas, street theater events and arts festivals. With a year-round schedule of events and activities, Kostume Kult has been successful for making it "halloween year-around" for many people, helping them develop their inner artists while bringing wonderful people together. We participate in society with an annual fashion camp at Burning Man, a float in the NYC Halloween Parade, a childrens gifting tent at the annual FIGMENT festival and group participation in the Coney Island Mermaid Parade, the Dance Parade, Gay Pride Parade, the Idiotarod shopping cart race, Santacon, Zombiecon and other public spectacles. Our Costume Galas are one-of a kind "participatory theater" events featuring a mix of interactive arts and performances and a large following of costuming enthusiasts (attendance ranging from 500-1000 people per event). Ongoing events include the Horned Ball (since 2005), The Black & Light Ball (since 2006), FreaKKshow (since 2007), Reentry (since 2009), The Alt.Oscar Awards Event (since 2007), an annual Lunar- Valentines gala (since 2012), and an annual Halloween gala since 2010… We are not a "cult" but a high-concept, multidisciplinary, maker collective inviting all who dare to take a chance and get involved. Active since 2002, Kostume Kult it a project of "Costume Cultural Society", a NY based non-profit corporation.
