KotaKita, is a community-led youth advocacy group that aims to create an inclusive and resilient city, especially in the context of Sabah's urban planning and design. We realize that it is crucial for Sabah's context to be more included and being given more attention in Malaysia's urban planning discourse. Although we know cities are mainly planned and designed by professionals, we believe communities are the experts in their own city and neighborhood – their voices must be included into city planning decision-making. Cities are after all, by the people, for the people – regardless of gender, race, religion, ability, background.
