Kottappuram Integrated Development Society (KIDS) is a non-governmental organisation (NGO) that essentially focuses and promotes community development initiatives and programmes, giving prime importance for crafting eco-friendly products from natural fibres like screw-pine and water hyacinth, thereby encouraging a sustainable living environment for rural women artisans. Preservation and revival of traditional crafts including handloom and handicrafts are also part of the various developmental projects initiated by the organisation. All finished products of KIDS are marketed under the brand name "GAYA" and are Fair Trade - India certified. In recognition to the remarkable achievements attained by the organisation over these many years, KIDS was awarded a Craft Based Resource Centre (CBRC) as part of the eleventh five-year plan of India to develop and enhance natural fibre craft projects.
