Arts & Crafts - Istanbul, Istanbul, Turkey
Krampf Gallery first opened its door in 2005 on New York City's prestigious 26th street and immediately established a clear philosophy; shake the borders of local art scenes while embracing foreign cultural exchange. The gallery gave the first New York solo exhibition to Chinese photographers performers the Gao Brothers in 2006, and has been continuously representing artists such as Li Wei, Ma Jun, Lui Bolin, Zhang Hui or Korean sculptor Seon Ghi Bahk. The Gallery's strong presence on the Art Fair circuit has helped build strong relationships with international collectors, artists and institutions throughout the world. Krampf gallery has been a leading exhibitor at Scope in Basel, Miami, New York, The Hamptons, London but also at fairs such as MACO in Mexico City, ACAF in New York City, KIAF in Seoul and Contemporary Istanbul in Turkey. Before founding the gallery, Regis Krampf worked at Christies in London, Paris and New York City. He has also worked at Metro Pictures gallery and Tony Shafrazi gallery. His frequent visits to the middle east has given him a deep appreciation of the local culture, and allowed him to understand early on that Istanbul is really the geographic, economic and political junction between Europe and the Middle East. Regis has already built a strong institutional and private collector base in Turkey, with a number of works placed by the gallery in the Elgiz museum collection, Nezih Barut Collection, Eczacibasi Collection, Borusan museum and others.
