Kratom United is a grassroots movement geared at educating policymakers, law enforcement, court and judicial system and medical professionals about the health benefits of kratom, Mitragyna Speciosa. We have an on-line forum to support kratom consumers on Facebook helping answer questions and guide people to a healthier lifestyle. We welcome agencies to join to learn how Americans are benefiting from kratom and help answer the many questions we get daily. I also Co-Founded Veterans Care Alliance Botanicals in helping our men and women who served lead a better life. #LeaveNoManBehind Kratom is a tree in the same scientific family as coffee which grows in the tropical climate of Southeast Asia. The leaves of the kratom tree have been utilized for 1000's of years. It is typically steeped and made into a tea or mixed with orange juice. Others pack the dried leaf material into empty vitamin capsules.Since kratom is relatively new to the United States, there is some fear and misinformation about it which is unfortunate, but also understandable. It has only been in the U.S. for about 20 years but has gained popularity in recent years. It is erroneously being called a synthetic or synthetic opiate and has, unfortunately, been lumped in with things like bath salts and spice. Kratom is not an opioid, but does act along some of the same pathways in the brain. It does not, however, activate the protein beta-arrestin. This protein is what is responsible for respiratory depression, tolerance and dependence in traditional opiates and opioids. It does not attach the part of the brain that causes craving or addiction making it a much safer alternative when people seek a natural alternative. Kratom has a very limited recreational capacity and the average consumer is middle-aged. It helps with many things including; chronic pain, symptoms of depression, opioid withdrawal, high blood pressure, diabetes, and general well-being.
