Architecture Firm/Engineering Firm - Sydhavnen, N/A, DK
With Kulbroen (the Coal Bridge) we want to lead the way in a sustainable development of Sydhavnen (the South Harbor) in Aarhus, DenmarkPAST: About 160 meters of track for coal cranes towers over Sydhavnen, eight meters above the harbor front. That is Kulbroen, which used to transport coal to the city's gas plant in the 1950s and 60s.PRESENT: We are creating a public space for the citizens of Aarhus. We are very involved in the development of Sydhavnen. Kulbro Lab is the house just below Kulbroen and home to our organization. From here, we work to use our knowledge about Kulbroen and Sydhavnen, experience in city development and a network of individuals who make things happen.FUTURE: The City of Aarhus has approved a plan for the new Kulbroen which will be the beginning and a guideline for the further development of Sydhavnen. The winning proposal in a large-scale architectural design competition was created by a local team consisting of TRANSFORM, Dissing+Weitling, Lendager Group, Søren Jensen and VEGA landskab.Read more about our history, present and future at http://www.kulbroen.com/information.Read more about the new Kulbroen at http://aarhus.dk/kulkransporet (in Danish only).Contact marc@kulbroen.com with any inquiries!
