Kung Fu Wushu Australia (KWA) is officially recognised by the Australian Sports Commission as the peak organisation governing the interests of Kung Fu/Wu Shu in Australia.KWA is an executive member of the Martial Arts Industry Association and is a signatory to the National Code of Practise for Martial Arts centres and Instructors. KWA is also a member of the International Wu Shu Federation (Beijing) and the Oceania Wu Shu Federation.KWA has a number of important responsibilities, these are:The administration of the National Coaching Accreditation Scheme (NCAS) for Kung Fu/Wu ShuThe peak official sanctioning body for all State and national Kung Fu and Wu Shu Championship events and competitions in AustraliaThe key consultative body on Kung Fu/Wu Shu related matters to all State and Federal government departmentsThe sole representative body in the Australian development of Wu Shu as an Olympic sportThe provision of specialist member support servicesKung Fu has a long and diverse history and his been practiced in Australia since the 1850s.
