Kunsthandel A.H. Bies was established in 1953 and specializes in important paintings of the 19th and early 20th century, with an emphasis on Dutch art. In the 65 years of its existence, the firm has build a strong reputation that stretches far beyond the Dutch border. Over time we have sold works to important collectors in The Netherlands, Europe, the USA, China and far beyond. Museums have also purchased works from us, including Noordbrabants Museum, Den Bosch, Museum Het Valkhof, Nijmegen, Frans Hals Museum, Haarlem, Dordrechts Museum, Scheepvaartmuseum, Amsterdam, Teylers Museum, Haarlem, Breda's Museum, Fondation Custodia, Paris, Rheinisches Landesmuseum, Bonn. Kunsthandel Bies regularly loans works to museums for exhibitions as well. An in-house exhibition has become an important annual tradition and is held each autumn. Kunsthandel Bies has a large collection of over 350 works in stock. In our exhibitions rooms (400 square meters), you will find over 150 works on view. Thus a visit to the gallery is highly recommended. Since the 70's Kunsthandel Bies has been participating in important art and antique fairs. You will find our gallery anually at PAN Amsterdam and TEFAF Maastricht.The gallery also houses a second business: Hans Bies B.V. Restoration of Paintings. In a special studio paintings are cleaned, relined if needed and various restoration processes carried out.
