Company DescriptionThe Kura Rēhia StoryOur story began in 2018, as friends around the fire wanting to have fun using our reo Māori.We started creating games and learning resources for speakers & learners of te reo, and began sharing them across a myriad of environments. The personification of play.Kia kawea tātou e te rēhia: Let us be carried by the spirit of playOur ProductKura Rēhia exists to contribute to a bilingual Aotearoa, where te reo Māori is vital to how we have fun together as whānau and friends. We are making a game that offers that: a fun, accessible and rich offline learning resource. ‘Kaupapa' is a game that offers speakers and learners of te reo Māori the opportunity to use the reo that they have (whether a little or a lot) and increase their vocabulary and confidence in a playful environment.'Kaupapa' is a word description game using 900 kupu Māori (Māori words) from the categories ‘mahi' (actions), ‘taputapu', ‘taiao', ‘ingoa' and ‘tupurangi'. ‘Kaupapa' can be played cooperatively or competitively, and adapted to suit beginners in te reo right through to fluent speakers. The instructions and cards will be bilingual, and the game can be played either completely in te reo Māori or bilingually to suit the fluency level of the players. It is designed as a companion to a reo learning journey from the kākano stage right through to providing total immersion domains for kāinga that engage the whole family in tākaro Māori.
