For 45 years KULU - Women and Development (KULU) has been a central actor in putting women's rights, empowerment and gender equality on the international and Danish development agendas through advocacy, information, and development cooperation in partnership with women's organisations and networks in the Global South. KULU–Women and Development is a non-partisan women's rights advocacy and development organization for 2 women´s organizations, women, equality and international councils of political parties, development NGOs, trade unions, and other civil society organizations and individual members. KULU's advocacy began in connection with the first UN International Women's Conference in 1975 in Mexico and was officially established in 1976 at the beginning of the UN Decade for Women.
