Rich Kessel, PhD is a nationally recognized expert in physician assessment, education, and behavior modification. As the Senior Communication Consultant for the Center for Personalized Education for Physicians, he was responsible for the development and implementation of the Center's nationally renowned physician communication assessment and feedback program; a model which has subsequently been adopted by the National Board of Medical Examiners. As an Associate Clinical Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Colorado's School of Medicine, he was instrumental in the implementation of the School's teaching and assessment programs utilizing simulated patients and has been recognized for excellence by the Foundations of Doctoring program. Dr. Kessel has been on the faculty of the Metropolitan State University of Denver for over 20 years. His research interests include the crossroads between neuroscience and oral communication in both public and instructional settings. By understanding how the brain processes messages, both verbal and written, he believes we can better package our communication to be successful in all aspects of life. He has extensive experience as a technical writer (Metro State Press) and advanced composites/carbon fiber automotive applications (R. garret Designs).
