The Laboratory for Infectious Disease Research (LIDR) is a National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases' Regional Biocontainment Laboratory located on the University of Missouri-Columbia campus. LIDR fosters research for the advancement of novel vaccines and therapeutics to combat diseases caused by some of our most deadly bacteria and viruses. Biosafety levels (BSL) -2 and -3 laboratories provide a critical resource for researchers in the discovery and development of infectious disease prevention and treatment. LIDR's central location makes it a crucial resource for local, regional, and national health officials in the event of a biological agent release or infectious disease outbreak in the United States. Our unique capabilities, expertise, and location establish LIDR as an essential component of our nation's effort to protect the public health of the United States.
