Food Production - Peterhead, Scotland, United Kingdom
Based in the Scottish fishing village Peterhead, Læsø Fiskeindustri offers a wide range of Norway lobsters packed and processed according to the same principles as the Danish production and with a completely new modern freezing plant. The Scottish division - Laeso Fish - is a wholly owned subsidiary, which with its own product range functions as a strong supplement to Norway lobster and brine products from Læsø.Peterhead was founded in the 16th century by Scottish fishermen, and the location at Scotland's easternmost point - and thus close to important fishing spots - was crucial when Læsø Fiskeindustri in 1998 decided to establish a department abroad. The need had then arisen for several years with large and increasing European demand for Norway lobster. Including demand for slightly smaller Norway lobsters, which, unlike Scandinavia, has a tradition of landing in the UK.Since 1998, Laeso Fish in Scotland has developed into an important part of the overall business at Læsø Fiskeindustri. Production in Scotland is designed so that large quantities of Norway lobster can be offered to the retail market from here. At the same time, a number of other products are produced in Scotland, including a significant production of Scallops, which is offered both as fresh produce and on frost. For all products, they live up to Læsø Fiskeindustri's high standard of quality control.
