Restaurants - Lake Oswego, OR, US
Designed by celebrated local architect Richard Sundeleaf, the Lake Theatre first opened its doors in 1940, charging 25¢ for admission and screening Another Thin Man. Its neighbors were Ireland's On The Lake restaurant, Clever Cleaners, and The Theatre Ice Cream store, and was for the initial decades of its life the entertainment hub of downtown Lake Oswego. Eventually, however, it fell into disrepair, better known for its sticky floors and crummy seats than for its art. After a year of extensive renovations and additions, the reimagined Lake Theater & Cafe emerged in April 2014. Boasting a full kitchen and bar serving beer, wine, and liquor, it is no longer about just going to the movies. Our menu is straightforward—pizza, sandwiches, soups—but emphasizes fresh ingredients and skillful preparation. The lobby and outdoor deck have been transformed to accommodate casual dining and easy socialization. The first auditorium is dedicated to cinema, updated with state-of-the-art digital projection, stadium seating, spacious reclining chairs, and room for food and drink. The second auditorium, now with direct lakeside access, is for anything and everything. With adjustable seating, customizable amenities, a dance floor and a stage, it is host to live music, sports broadcasts, trivia, or even your own private event.
