The Lakota Language Consortium (LLC) is a Lakota-led 501c3 non-profit formed in 2004 among Sioux tribal leaders, language advocates, linguists and professional educators to initiate a comprehensive effort to revitalize the Lakota language. Our long-term plan 1) develops sequenced language textbooks and teaching materials for schoolroom and home use; 2) provides the only professional second-language teacher training in Lakota in the Plains region; and 3) maintains an international online language forum community using the LLC's award-winning New Lakota Dictionary (2008).
