Nonprofit Organization Management - New York, New York, United States
Lambda Pi Upsilon Sorority, Latinas Poderosas Unidas, Inc. was founded on November 6, 1992 at The State University of New York College at Geneseo by six women, known as our Six Pillars of Strength, with intent to diversify the collegiate offerings of the SUNY Geneseo community. They aspired to strengthen the representation of students of color, particularly the women of color on campus, through cultural awareness, and academic enrichment. Their vision extended far beyond one's collegiate experience, and hoped that with strength in numbers they'd one day develop an impervious network of women who lead and empower. Today, the intent of our Six Pillars enables empowerment across countless campuses, and can be recognized as a legacy for those who choose the Lambda Way.Lambda Pi Upsilon Sorority, Latinas Poderosas Unidas, Inc. is also proud to be one of the youngest Latina-based, all-inclusive, Greek lettered organizations in the country. Our commitment to education, cultural awareness, family, personal advancement and philanthropy through the experience of a sisterhood (Hermandad) is what makes our network unique and everlasting. The women of LPiU strive to achieve these foundational principles with Love, Dignity & Pride (Con Amor, Dignidad, y Orgullo). Empowered Women, Empowering Women
