LGEC is a registered charity, based in Preston, UK. It was established in 1980 and is one of approximately 50 Development Education Centres in the UK whose work in schools, colleges and communities encompasses the following principles: 1) enabling people to understand the links between their own lives and those of people throughout the world; 2) increasing understanding of the economic, social, political and environmental forces which shape our lives; 3) developing the skills, attitudes and values that enable people to work together to bring about change and take control of their own lives; and 4) working towards a more just and sustainable world in which power and resources are shared equitably.
