LANDWORKS is Southern Africa's leading implementer of ecology driven, community-centric solutions to distressed environments. We work with people in their environment to sustainably rehabilitate and generate natural ecosystems disrupted by fire, flooding, agriculture, mining and misuse.A South African registered nonprofit company, LANDWORKS has thirty years of hands-on experience in implementing successful people-centered, scientifically benchmarked and audited strategies to address environmental challenges that arise as a result of particularly unwanted wildfire, flooding and neglect. LANDWORK's long immersion in the protocols and practices of Integrated Fire Managment, and the in-house skills training of rural communities is critical to the husbandry of particularly fire-threatened environments. To this end LANDWORKS implements the FireWise Communitites SA programme, the most effective education-driven solution to the prevention of unwanted wildfire.In 2006, LANDWORKS established a formal relationship with the USA based National Fire Protection Association's Wildfire and Firewise Programs, to provide a globally informed, coordinated approach to the reduction of harm caused by unwanted wildfire.The programme seeks to protect people, property and economies from the risk of unwanted wildfire by working with local communities to develop and implement practical solutions.LANDWORKS has a track record of achievement in engaging successfully with homeowners, community leaders, planners, developers and business people to implement best practice FireWise and Integrated Fire Managment interventions.We also offer strategic assessments of fire related environmental degradation that can lead to post wildfire flooding. This intervention is particularly important in the rehabilitation of fire-damaged and otherwise degraded environments and critical to successful environmental regeneration.
