Our family is passionate about Lao food because every dish is a piece of the home our parents created. In 1980 our parents left Laos as refugees in search of opportunity in the U.S. One of our father's first job opportunities in the US was a cook in a Chinese restaurant, whose owner helped put a down on a home that they still live in to this day. Our mother, draws from memories of her family's kitchen, helping her mother make meals for her 5 younger siblings. Over the years our parents have crafted recipes that spark a journey to the first place our family called home, Laos. Although our parents were never classically trained as chefs, and despite the language barrier it is clear that food has been their foundation for communicating their love. It is with grateful and humble hearts that our family now hopes to bring a taste of traditional Lao cuisine to the place we now call home; Raleigh, NC and to the community we now call ours.
