L'Arche is an international network of communities where people with and without intellectual disabilities (learning disabilities in UK) share life together as friends. Everything we do in L'Arche is grounded on the believe in the sacred, unrepeatable gift of every person and the transformative power of mutual relationships between people with different levels of abilities.L'Arche was founded in France in 1964 by Templeton Prize laureate Jean Vanier. Currently we have 139 communities in 37 countries around the world, all aligned under the mission of making known the gifts of people with intellectual / learning disabilities.In Ireland and Northern Ireland, there are 4 L'Arche communities: Kilkenny, Cork, Dublin and Belfast. We share lives with over 100 adults with disabilities.We constantly visit organizations and teams around Ireland and Northern Ireland to talk about our experience creating communities of belonging for some of the most vulnerable citizens of our societies.
