Philanthropy - Naples, Florida, United States
The LATCHKEY LEAGUE, INC.—founded by Myra Janco Daniels, Founder and former CEO of The Naples Philharmonic Center for the Arts—was created in response to the plight of some 10,300+ school children in Collier County who come home to an empty house. Its purpose: to support and provide educational, cultural and recreational services to the thousands of children in the Greater Naples area who are in need of after-school supervision and activities, and to promote educational development for their benefit and for the benefit of the community. In less than three years, Myra and the Latchkey League fulfilled her pledge of $5 million to fund The Salvation Army's Fran Cohen Youth Center (currently under construction), which will provide a full complement of after-school activities. The Latchkey League will continue to provide financial support to the center, as well as award grants to other nonprofit corporations that support latchkey children in Collier County.
