In 2016, I was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia and given less than a 30% chance of survival. The treatment process for my rare cancer was intensive, requiring a bone marrow transplant from an unrelated donor in Brazil and a year-long disruption of the life I knew.As a former Division I runner, I've always firmly believed that adversity shapes us. We can become better versions of ourselves when we've endured something difficult; when we've chosen to keep moving forward despite what we know is coming. From a running perspective, the adversity is how we train: the long runs through the elements, the hard efforts on the track, the losses, and the injuries. Everything that an athlete endures brings them closer to winning, which is the ultimate goal. As a cancer patient, living was my ultimate goal. The challenges were different, but the decision to move forward was an obvious one and I was fortunate to be surrounded with what felt like endless support to keep me going when I was weak or uncomfortable. Today, stronger because of what I have endured and with two full sets of DNA, I'm using my design skillset and my love of storytelling to inspire and encourage through projects like PositiveProject.us. I'd love to work with you to help tell your story, your brand's story, or just to create something beautiful.Keep Moving Forward, Leah
