ABOUT LEGACYThe Legacy Club of South Australia (SA) and Broken Hill (BH) have been caring for the families of those who served our country for over 90 years. Currently, Legacy Club of SA and BH care for over 5000 beneficiaries, including 74 children and 71 persons with disabilities; the oldest, a widow turning 108 this year, and the youngest, just 5 years old.WHO IS LEGACY?Legacy is a unique Australian voluntary not-for-profit charity, an organisation dedicated to enhancing the lives of the families of our Australian Defence Force Veterans who have served in war, peacekeeping and humanitarian missions and who have sadly died or become incapacitated either during service or subsequently. Legacy's Vision is that no dependant of those who gave their life or their health as a result of serving their country suffers financial or social disadvantage.Legacy's commitment to assist the families of those who have served our country is long-standing; it started with a World War I Digger's promise to his dying mate that he'd "look after the missus and the kids". Founded by a group of World War I Veterans; their ideals of mate-ship engendered by front line service led them to recognise the need for an organisation to help the families of their comrades who did not survive.Behind each member of the Australian Defence Force who risks everything, there is a family doing the same, and today, Legacy, with the help of the wider community, continues to assist the families of our Australian Defence Force personnel. For over 90 years, Legacy has been there for the many thousands of widows, widowers and families of our Australian Defence Force men and women who sacrificed so much.Ninety years on, Legacy is still keeping that Digger's promise, and today, offer a wide range of valued programs, services and support.
