Food Production - Dijon, Bourgogne Franche-Comté, France
Founded in 1836, the Maison Lejay is the first and finest Liqueur House based in Dijon, in the heart of Burgundy. Heir to a unique know-how in fruit maceration and distillation, Lejay created in 1841 the Original Crème de Cassis de Dijon (blackcurrant liqueur). Since then, each generation has built up its expertise by following a tradition of excellence, crafting the highest quality products. Its reputation mainly comes from three iconic products:• Lejay® Cassis is an iconic product, the pride of the Lejay House. The collection includes two main products: the special cuvée Noir de Bourgogne 20% (made exclusively with Noir de Bourgogne varietal with blackcurrant from the Burgundy region), and the Original Crème de Cassis 18%. Both are renowned for their exceptional flavours, so much so that the Crème de Cassis Noir de Bourgogne won the 2015 International Spirits Competition Supreme Champion Award, its highest honor.• Le Kir® is an aperitif made from the most famous crème de cassis. It owes its name since 1952 to the deputy mayor of Dijon, the Canon KIR. Le Kir® is the result of the blend of Chardonnay white wine and macerated blackcurrant from the Noir de Bourgogne and Blackdown varieties.• Le Kir Royal® is the sparkling and ready-to -drink version of Le Kir® ! It is based on the blend of sparkling white wine and macerated cassis. Since the creation of the first Crème de Cassis, Lejay has represented French authenticity, always looking for the right balance between innovation and tradition. The House not only forms part of the cultural and industrial heritage of the Burgundian capital, but is also without a doubt one of its crown jewels. With over 60 employees, the company is proud of its upmarket positioning, currently available in some 40 countries, including France, Japan, Australia and the United States. Lejay is part of Maisons & Domaines Henriot and Beam Suntory.
