Arusha, Tanzania, is a predominantly Maasai area, with a population of over two million people. Although Arusha is the safari hub of Tanzania, close to Mt Kilimanjaro and location of the UN Rwanda war crimes tribunal, most of the inhabitants live below the poverty line.Lengo Football Academy is a not-for-profit which seeks to harness the power of football to bring about positive social change, nurture talent and alleviate poverty in Tanzania. We believe every young person should have the opportunity to transform their lives and reach their potential in life.Lengo Football Academy in Tanzania offers opportunities for disadvantaged youth, street kids and orphans to better their lives through football. We provide coaching and training six days a week and assist our young players to gain an education, valuable life skills and vocational support as well as provide a professional route for talented new players. In Australia, we run a social enterprise delivering high quality football programs to youth based in Melbourne with 100% of profits supporting communities in Tanzania. Lengo Football Academy is a registered charity with the Australian Charities and Not-For-Profit Commission (ACNC) with deductible gift recipient (DGR) status in Australia.
