Lesbian Game Changers is a nonprofit advocacy group dedicated to empowering queer individuals to identify their potential and develop the self-efficacy and sense of purpose to pursue it. In 2017, Lesbian Game Changers founder Robin Lowey wrote and designed Game Changers: Lesbians You Should Know About, a book about lesbian achievements that advanced civil rights and safe spaces for LGBTQ+ individuals. The book supports schools in their efforts to include fair, accurate, inclusive and respectful reference to contributions by members of the LGBTQ+ community in the history and social studies curriculum, as mandated by the FAIR Education Act. Today, Lesbian Game Changers provides books, short-films, talks, and educational resources that help queer youth and young adults understand their own identities, especially in terms of how they were shaped by the stories of the rebels, game changers, and history makers who impacted today's queer culture. Lesbian Game Changers works on the premise that the more we understand the stories of those who came before us, the more we understand ourselves and become empowered.Studies have shown that when you include LGBT content in the curriculum, bullying goes down and campus climate for everybody goes up. LGBT students in particular have a greater feeling of safety and a greater engagement with being at school.
