"bold, thoughtful and unashamedly high-minded" Venue Magazine, Bristol My major three part series, 'Beyond the Cradle' encompasses a journey dismantling preconceptions we create of both humanity and the world within which we exist, as a direct result of the cradle of modern society in which we live. This conformity not only serves to ridicule our individuality, but it has lead mankind on a path of destruction, easily side stepping the role of self responsibility. In effect we have attempted to detach ourselves from the raw natural world, its worth only dictated by its price on the market of modern society.The series highlights that despite our best efforts, we are intrinsically linked to- and depend on this world- whether it be in unity or contrast. That self-awareness and responsibility must be taken by all, we must break our ties with conformity, a struggle destined to not only release our inner strengths but to expose any weakness we harbour. The progression on the series explores life beyond this cradle, the emotional acceptance of our loss of individualism and humanity, and then finally the freedom experienced once we have shed the shackles of conformity once and for all.
